About Verbal Terrorists...
Verbal Terrorists are a politically motivated hip hop group from Newcastle in the UK. They have been going strong for nearly 8 years delivering their unique blend of rabble-rousing rhymes, eclectic sounds and banging beats to audiences up and down the country. VT cut their teeth performing on Newcastle’s free-rave/house party scene before establishing themselves as a veritable force to be reckoned with on the North-East hip hop and alternative dance music circuits, capturing crowds with their firebrand lyrics and explosive performances.
They released their debut album Small Axe on their own record label White Elephant Sounds to critical acclaim in 2008. They have since gone from strength to strength, returning in unequivocal style at the turn of the year with their blistering follow up The War On Terra. The album won The Crack magazine’s prestigious ‘Album of the Month’ award, and has been described as ‘One of the most compelling underground hip hop albums of the year’ by New Free Press; similar rave reviews have come from dozens of other media outlets including Ceasefire, Freedom Fortnightly, Novel, Gorilla Film Magazine and The Chronicle.
Verbal Terrorists have supported among the nation’s top grime artists in Skepta and JME and have worked with some of the greatest hip hop acts locally and worldwide including Prose, Akala and the legendary Stic.man from US hip hop giants Dead Prez.
